This is one of my favorite contests. 100 watts, easy exchange, and North American multipliers on each band make it really fun. I go by “Ed” in this contest to keep the exchange short and sweet. “Ed WA” seems a little easier than “Mitch WA.”
I’d like to give a shout out to the hardworking guys at Custom Metalworks from the Portland area for coming out on New Year’s Eve to fix my 80m beam. This is what I woke up to on December 31:
Although the antenna was never in any danger of falling, the shim that held it solidly in place moved out of position creating this awkward looking scene.
Luckily, the WX calmed on January 1 and gave the crew a nice window to fix it. Here’s the “after” picture:
